TURA, March 21 � A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the incident at Petchong Jongki village under the Kharkutta C&RD Block in North Garo Hills, where two villagers were killed in an early dawn encounter involving an Army team from Damra in Goalpara district of Assam.
The order comes in the wake of a huge outcry over what many have termed a case of �fake encounter.� The two villagers were killed on the suspicion of being militants from the Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) about 4 am on March 18 by the Dogra Regiment of Damra.
According to the order given today by Deputy Commissioner W Khyllep, the enquiry will be headed by the Additional District Magistrate L Ch Marak and the complete report has to be submitted to the DC within a month.
