NEW DELHI, Dec 3 - Admitting complaints of irregularities in execution of work and misappropriation of funds in the Brahmaputra Board, the Ministry of Water Resources said that disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against erring officials.
In a Lok Sabha reply to a question, Minister for Water Resources, Uma Bharti, said the Brahmaputra Board has informed that complaints have been received regarding work of Phase II and III of �Protection of Majuli Island� project. The probe on these complaints are under way, the Minister said.
The Board has informed that disciplinary proceedings against involved officials would be initiated according to due procedure, if they are found guilty.
The MoWR has released Rs 17.50 crore till September-October, while Rs 40 crore was released last fiscal. The Board was released Rs 50 crore in 2013-2014 and Rs 43 crore in 2012-2013.
