Probe into illegal cloth trade in Tinsukia dist

DOOMDOOMA, Sept 25 - A section of textile traders in Tinsukia district have been transporting consignments through NF Railway without paying the mandatory levies, which has obviously caused huge revenue loss to the Government.

Tinsukia Police, it may be mentioned, unearthed several such cases in New Tinsukia Junction during the last two days while the Deputy Commissioner has ordered a probe against the illegal practise. Bhaskar Jyoti Borah, an Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Tinsukia district will inquire into the matter. The Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, Tinsukia, will assist the magistrate during the inquiry. The magistrate has been ordered to submit his report within ten days.
