Probe demanded into Nagaon incident

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - The Swadhin Nari Shakti has reiterated its commitment to do everything to protect the interest of the indigenous people of Assam and said it will not allow any political forces to destroy the identity of the State�s aboriginal people.

Addressing a press conference here today, members of the organisation slammed the present BJP-led government at Dispur for its attempt to name higher educational institutions in the State after Deendayal Upadhyaya. They also demanded a high level inquiry into the recent Nagaon skirmish and strongly criticised State BJP president Ranjeet Dass for his derogatory remark on music maestro late Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
