GUWAHATI, Feb 3: Police are likely to summon Zubeen Garg in connection with his indecent remarks about an actress at a public function. As per the direction of the Assam State Commission for Women, the Guwahati Police has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
“The Women’s Commission has directed us to conduct an inquiry and submit the report to it, and accordingly, the process has been started under an ACP rank officer,” MP Gupta, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, told The Assam Tribune.
Though it appears to be a clear case of outraging the modesty of a woman at a public place, the police are yet to register a case till the filing of this report.
Gupta said the police have not received any complaint from anybody to register an FIR. “We will conduct the probe and submit the report to the Commission,” he added.
“The inquiry would be conducted as per procedure and we will call the persons involved to record their statements,” Rosy Talukdar, ACP Women Unit said.
