Pro-tem Speaker appointed in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, June 2 - Phosum Khimhun was today appointed as the Pro-tem Speaker to perform the duties of the Speaker of the Arunachal State Assembly.

Khimhun, who got re-elected for the 5th consecutive term from the Changlang South seat on a BJP ticket, was sworn in as the Pro-tem Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly, said an official release here.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) administrated the oath to Khimhun in a brief ceremony at Raj Bhavan here this evening which was attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, among others.

The Pro-tem Speaker will perform the duties of the Speaker until the regular Speaker is elected by the House. He will administer oath to the newly-elected legislators of the State Assembly, including the Chief Minister when the House commences for a two-day session on Monday.
