Pro-talk ULFA to venture into business

GUWAHATI, April 29 � Making public its interest in the business sector, pro-talk ULFA leader Mrinal Hazarika today stated that the outfit would now involve itself with business activities in Assam and Hira Saraniya, the �commander of the outfit�s 709 battalion� has been appointed as the in-charge for the purpose.

Claiming that the intervention is aimed at evicting �mafia raj� and �syndicates� from the existing business scenario, the ULFA leader said that the outfit�s intervention would facilitate involvement of local youths in coal and other lucrative businesses.

The ULFA leader stated that a team under the outfit�s finance wing would look after the business-related proceedings.

He also conceded that the recent incident of SULFA man Sailen Dutta Konwar resorting to indiscriminate firing followed after the outfit intervened in the coal dealings as it needed money to run the outfit.

Hazarika also hinted that the outfit�s business agenda would encompass various business areas and went on to inform that even the activities of multi-national companies operating in the State would be kept under watch to ensure that the State�s interest is not compromised with.

�For the last 15 to 20 years, the business circle, including the coal deals, in the BG yard, which involves crores of rupees, was controlled by a select group of people. The outfit would now ensure that no particular group is allowed to monopolise the business sector,� Hazarika told mediapersons today.

�We are committed to wipe out mafia raj and any sort of syndicates from the business sector,� he asserted.

Asked, he also divulged that the recent general meeting of the outfit has prepared a roadmap to carry out the business-related activities and money generated from these would be transferred to the outfit�s account.
