By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, Nov 7 - Expressing strong reactions against the alleged pro-Pakistan slogans given while welcoming AIUDF supremo Maulana Badaruddin Ajmal at the Silchar airport on Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Partys Cachar district committee took out a protest rally in Silchar on Saturday.

The BJP leaders along with members from the partys youth wing gave slogans condemning the AIUDF for its anti-national activity and also slammed the Congress party for its political alliance with AIUDF.

The protesters also burnt effigies of AIUDF chief Badaruddin Ajmal and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora. Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul said, I question the Congress party leaders on their alliance with the AIUDF as people of Assam will never tolerate such anti-national activities on the Indian soil. We must stand together to oust the Mughals from Assam and the country.

Cachar BJP president Kaushik Rai demanded exemplary punishment against those involved in the pro-Pakistan sloganeering and informed that the party will approach the Cachar deputy commissioner and superintendent of police to accelerate the pace of investigation and action on the FIRs done in this regard.
