PRISM opposes MoS rank for board chairmen

By CORRESPONDENT

AIZAWL, Oct 25 - Corruption watchdog-turned-political party PRISM has raised concern over the Mizo National Front Governments decision to accord Minister of State (MoS) rank to the newly appointed chairmen of 14 boards.

Expressing displeasure over the Governments decision, PRISM treasurer Zodinsanga said that they would look into the legality of according MoS rank to the chairmen and would move court, if required. Mizoram is entitled to have 12 ministers.

Mizoram is currently facing an acute financial crisis. The economy is not doing well either. The bureaucrats are worried about the States financial situation. Despite this crisis, the MNF Government has appointed 14 board chairmen with the sole reason of showing favouritism and allotted them MoS rank. By doing so, the Government will waste at least Rs 100 lakh per month, he said.

We will go to any length to stop such wastage of public money, Zodinsanga added.
