AIZAWL, June 13 - Aizawl-based anti-corruption watchdog Peoples Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (PRISM) has slammed the Mizoram Government for allowing police personnel to undertake yoga training and said the government should instead let them go for morning physical exercise if they wanted to let them stay physically fit.
PRISM in a statement said it strongly believes that yoga has connection with Hindu philosophy and therefore yoga practice is not religiously safe for the police personnel, the majority of whom are Christian. It maintained that letting police personnel practice yoga against their religious belief is not morally right.
The government should revoke its decision of letting police take yoga training, PRISM said and appealed the State Government to stop its plan for popularising yoga in a Christian State like Mizoram, the statement added.
