GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - The entry and exit policy in different courses in higher education which will be implemented as per the National Education Policy 2020, will lead to a substandard workforce in future, which is going to be very harmful for the country�s growth, spokesperson of the All India Primary Teachers� Federation and general secretary of the Assam State Primary Teachers� Association Ratul Chandra Goswami said here today.
Goswami said that at the national level their organisation is demanding separation of foundation education from primary education and recruitment of only trained teachers for the pre-primary level. This, he said, would help in improving the standard of education.
He further said that the purpose of education is not to judge a student as per the ability to read per minute, it means making the student a responsible and active citizen of the country by providing him/her the quality education which should help him/her in securing a decent job or livelihood.
Goswami categorically stated that they are against peer assessment as mentioned in the policy, as it would promote favouritism and problems of bullying and violence in schools among students and rift among teachers too.
�We strongly oppose the concept of setting up school complexes as it is against the fundamental right of every child as described in the Right to Education Act, 2009,� Goswami added.
Today the All India Primary Teachers� Federation also organised a webinar to create awareness about the policy and its complications on public education system and teachers. Teachers from across the country took part in the programme.
Addressing the webinar, president of the federation Ram Pal Singh said, �The policy looks very attractive and appealing at a first glance but as one explores the dotted lines, it presents a completely different scenario.�
