Prestigious literary awards to Nilim Kumar, Ranajit Das

GUWAHATI, Aug 14 - The prestigious Ramanath Bhattacharya Foundation Literary Awards for the year 2019 would be presented to noted Assamese poet Nilim Kumar of Guwahati and Bengali poet Ranajit Das of Kolkata respectively.

Instituted in the memory of Padmanath Vidyabinod and Ramnath Biswas, the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 51,000, a citation, a memento and a specially designed scarf each, stated a press release issued here today by the general secretary of the Foundation, Shyamashis Bhattacharya.

For the past one decade, the Foundation has been awarding an Assamese poet and a Bengali poet in the memory of the illustrious ancestors of the Foundation�s trustee president and poet, Late Ramanath Bhattacharya.

The past recipients of the awards are: Ajit Barua and Bijit Kr Bhattacharya (2010); Hiren Bhattacharya and Pabitra Mukhopadhyay (2011); Nilamoni Phukan and Tarun Sanyal (2012); Hirendra Nath Dutta and Swapan Sengupta (2013); Bhaben Barua and Shyamalkanti Das (2014); Harekrishna Deka and Ratneshwar Hajra (2015); Sananta Tanti and Udayan Ghosh (2016); Sameer Tanti and Ajir Bairi (2017); and Anubhav Tulasi and Pijush Raut (2018).
