GUWAHATI, Aug 19 - Emphasizing on preventive healthcare initiatives for mediapersons along with their close relatives, Guwahati Press Club has initiated a special programme titled �Evening with a doctor� at the Press Club premises here on every Saturday evening.
The first programme of the series will begin on August 20 at 5 pm, which will continue till 8 pm, where Dr Kashyap Kumar Das from Department of Medicine, Dispur Hospitals, will attend the OPD clinic and provide free consultations on healthcare issues. The participants will also get the opportunity to get their blood pressure checked during the period.
It may be mentioned that a doctor�s chamber has been constructed in the Press Club campus, which was inaugurated by young citizens Dhiman, Kristi, Shantanava, Arya, Shambhavi, Nistha and Arunava on August 15, on the occasion of 70th Independence Day.
The entire room was re-constructed by the city-based Dispur Hospitals. Doctors from different departments representing government and private hospitals of the State would come for the weekly programme, a statement said.
The initiative is also expected to help the scribes to understand various aspects of healthcare in a better way.
