GUWAHATI, June 23 - Uttaran Social Welfare Society in association with Aank, a creative Line, is going to present two plays, Bajikarar Amrit Katha and Drishyapatat Esandhya on June 26, 27, 28 and 29 at Surya, Chenikuthi. Both the plays have been scripted and directed by Mrinal Jyoti Goswami, who has been actively involved in research and documentation of Assamese theatre.
Though both plays have different themes, yet there is an underlying unity between the plays as they highlight how to live life. The performance will start at 6.30 pm on each day.
Bajikarar Amrit Katha takes inspiration from the epic Mahabharata. Through the ages, the great epic has been subjected to interpretation, but its relevance remains the same.
In Bajikarar Amrit Katha we are trying to portray our day-to-day politics through a portion of the great epic. The second story, Drishyapatat Esandhya, is basically based on the struggle of life, informed Dr Goswami. Drishyapatat Esandhya depicts the struggle of women and for theatre lovers this would be an experimental exposure.
