Preparations on to quarantine home-bound train passengers

SIVASAGAR, May 14 - A meeting was organised at Sivasagar Sukapha Bhawan in the presence of State Minister for Disaster Management Jogen Mohan, MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Lakhinandan Gogoi and other district officers on quarantine facilities to accommodate the home-bound railway passengers.

The district administration has already prepared 1,015 beds in different quarantine homes in Thowra, Amguri, Nazira and Sivasagar for quarantining the passengers. The railway passengers from outside the state will be brought to Sivasagar by ASTC buses from Dibrugarh. An Assistant Commissioner has been entrusted with the responsibility to supervise the entire activity.

The Disaster Management Minister called upon the panchayat officials to cooperate with the district administration in helping the stranded people in reuniting their respective families.

Topon Kumar Gogoi directed the officials to provide facilities to the persons to be kept in the quarantine houses. The Joint Director Health will monitor the check-up and testing part, and if any positive case is found, then he or she will be treated in special COVID-19 hospitals. The meeting was also attended by Thowra MLA Kushal Duwori.

ANN Service adds from Sonari: Altogether 16 COVID-19 Care Centres/Quarantine Centres have been set up in Charaideo district where the stranded people of the district coming from different states by trains will be quarantined after arrival. Revenue Circle Officers of Sonari, Sapekhati and Mahmora have been asked to supervise the activities.

Charaideo Additional Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Bora will be the overall in-charge of Sonari Revenue Circle. Revenue Circle Officer Priyangshu Bharadwaj will be in-charge of the COVID Care Centres at Sonari College.

Barpeta Correspondent adds: The Barpeta district administration has begun its exercise to quarantine home-bound people. Six quarantine centres have been set up and 400 rooms in 18 hotels have been booked for this purpose across the district.

BH College Howli, Barnagar College and Barnagar Girls High School at Sarbhog, auditorium of Madhab Choudhury College, Barpeta, ITI Barpeta and Mini ITI at Titka have been set up as quarantine centres. These centres will accommodate 460 persons but there is a provision for extension of another 1,000. Works for making of basic facilities like beds and toilets are going on in a war footing in these centres.

Barpeta Deputy Commissioner Munindra Sarma assessed the activities in the proposed quarantine centres at a meeting.
