Preparations on for I-Day celebrations in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Aug 1 - Amidst the onslaught of Covid-19, preparations are under way to celebrate the 74th Independence Day in Biswanath district.

A meeting was held in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath on Friday to celebrate the Independence Day in the district on the basis of the guidelines recently issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Assam. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dhruvajyoti Das. In order to maintain social distancing and to abide by the Covid-19 protocol, it was decided to hold various online competitions among the students in Biswanath district on the occasion of the Independence Day.

The security arrangements and sanitization exercises at Kachari Maidan area were discussed in the meeting. The district administration also decided to extend door-to-door greetings to the persons who have excelled in various fields. In line with this central event to be held at Kachari Maidan in front of the District Deputy Commissioner�s Office, tree plantation programmes will be carried out in all government offices on August 13.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Chandana Mahanta, Manoranjan Payeng, Kuldeep Hazarika, Additional Superintendent of Police Souravjyoti Saikia and other officials of district administration, police, senior citizens, business associations of Biswanath Chariali and others.

Our Correspondent from Kalaigaon adds: Bhergaon subdivision in Udalguri district has been making necessary preparations for the celebration of nation�s 74th Independence Day this month.

A meeting was held in the conference hall of the office of the SDO (Civil), Bhergaon on July 31 at 3 pm to discuss sub-divisional-level ceremonial celebrations of the 74th Independence Day. The meeting was presided over by Gokul Chandra Brahma, ADC, Udalguri cum SDO (Civil) I/C of Bhergaon subdivision.

On the occasion, ADC Brahma requested all to maintain all COVID-19 protocol as instructed by the State government during celebration of Independence Day.

Nirmal Ghosh, SDPO, Bhergaon; Kushal Kalita, Assistant Commissioner; Gayatri Pathak, Circle Officer, Khoirabari Revenue Circle; Sujata Goswami, Circle Officer, (Attached), Kalaigaon Revenue Circle and all the heads of departments of the subdivision attended the meeting.
