DIBRUGARH, April 28 � Preparations for etching a name in the Guinness World Records in the largest painting in numbers, longest painting and largest number to sing the national anthem formally began today at the Government Boys� Higher Secondary School under the aegis of Record Breakers led by Apuraj Barooah, the Guinness World Record holder in drawing the longest piece of scratch art.
Inaugurating the preparation workshop for the mega event, Deputy Commissioner Aruna Rajoria said that the district administration would extend all possible logistic support to the team in organising the event successfully. At least 10,000 boys and girls are expected to take part in each of the painting and singing events.
To the students who took part in the inauguration of the first workshop at the school, the Deputy Commissioner said: �You can do it but you have to work hard. You can achieve nothing without struggle.� Rajoria also sang a Bollywood song to convey to the attending students that they should not stop in the quest for the record. She opened the workshop by drawing the national flag, using a painting brush on an art paper.
Several students, their parents, painters and artists from different schools, towns and district attended the inaugural programme. The purpose of organising the event is to instil in the minds of the young the competitive spirit, according to Apuraj Barooah. The painting will involve drawing the national flag, national emblem, national bird, national animal, national flower, folk dances, monuments and portraits of famous personalities of 257 countries of the world by 10,000 youths, he said. The length of the painting will be 1,000 metres and the breadth will be 10 metres. The singing of the national anthem will also be conducted with as many as 10,000 children on the same day. Noted musician Syed Sadullah has been put in charge of the singing event.
Guinness World Records awarding authorities have accepted the proposals from Apuraj for the performance and the latter has already signed an agreement with them. The event is also likely to be witnessed by the Guinness World Records awarding authorities.
