Preparations in full swing at Morigaon district

MORIGAON, March 13 - The Morigaon district administration is gearing up to hold a free-and-fair poll in the three Assembly constituencies under no. 10 Nagaon Lok Sabha seat, the polling of which is slated to be held on April 18 next.

Addressing a press conference, Rituraj Bora, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon said that a total of 5,83,769 voters in Morigaon district will exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. Among them, 2,98,235 are male and 2,85,508 are female. The highest 2,21,730 voters are in Jagiroad LAC, followed by 1,83,631 in Morigaon LAC while in Lahorighat the figure stands at 1,78,408.

The DC, Morigaon said that a total of 4,200 government employees will be engaged in the entire electoral process. Among them, 66 are sector officers and 15 are zonal officers. The women officials will also be engaged in the electoral process, the DC, Morigaon added.

Meanwhile, around 2,000 employees have been provided training in the district. For the peaceful holding of election in 905 polling stations of the district, the Morigaon police administration has chalked out strategies.
