Preparations for Yoga Day celebrations

GUWAHATI, June 19 - On the occasion of the 5th International Day of Yoga on June 21, the Regional Outreach Bureau under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is going to organise a Yoga Shivir in the premises of Soochna Bhawan, Assam Khadi & Village Industries Board Complex in Guwahati.

There will be special programmes to celebrate the Day.�A yoga teacher from Poorvanchal Yoga College, Maligaon, along with Pranab Kumar Nath, Field Publicity Officer, Dibrugarh, will demonstrate and lead the session on yoga and meditation from 8 am onwards. The session will also include interactions on various physical ailments and its management of office-goers and students.

Along with the yoga session an exhibition on International Yoga Day will also be organised, which will be open to everyone. The officials from the Ministry of I&B and students from various colleges in Guwahati will be present in the event.

The aim is to make yoga an integral part of everyone�s lifestyle and thereby secure a healthy life.

Meanwhile, India Tourism, Guwahati, is going to celebrating the Day at Sukreswar Temple, Kalipur here on the bank of river Brahmaputra. �

A yoga expert from the Art of Living, Guwahati branch, will demonstrate the yoga from 7 am to 7.45 am and meditation for 15 minutes, where 200 expected members of travel and tour operators, hoteliers, students from schools/ institutions and stakeholders will be participating along with the officials of India Tourism, Guwahati, the Assam Tourism Department and the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC). The members from High Commission of Bangladesh and Bhutan�s national carrier, Druk Airways will also take part in the session.

City Correspondent adds: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will also observe Yoga Day on June 21. Yoga guru Nripen Deka will impart yoga training to the Council officers and employees. A blood sugar testing camp will also be organised for the officers and employees on the occasion, an AHSEC release said.
