TEZPUR, May 14 - With only four days left for the counting of votes in the recently-held State Assembly elections, the district administration here is making brisk preparations for the process covering five LACs under Tezpur election district � Dhekiajuli, Barchala, Tezpur, Rangapara and Sootea.

The counting process will start at 8 am on May 19. A total of 74 counting tables and five counting cells have been arranged at the Tezpur College here. According to a press note issued by the election office here, there will be 28 tables for Dhekiajuli and Sootea LACs, while there will be 36 tables for Barchala, Tezpur and Rangapara LACs. For each of the tables there will be one observer, one counting assistant, one micro-observer and one assistant returning officer.

For the smooth conduct of the counting process, special training has been imparted to the concerned officials. Moreover, in a meeting with the representatives of the political parties, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning Officer Laya Madduri reviewed the norms of the Election Commission for the counting process.

NALBARI: The district administration here has geared up for the counting of votes of three LACs in Nalbari election district � Nalbari, Barkshetri and Dharmapur.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Nalbari Deputy Commissioner Dr Om Prakash said the administration has readied the halls of Gurdon HS School of Nalbari town for the counting of votes. �We have arranged 14 tables for each constituency for smooth counting of votes,� he added.

The Nalbari and Barkshetri constituencies will have 17 rounds of counting, while the Dharmapur constituency will see 14 rounds. The administration has appointed 58 counting assistants, 58 counting supervisors and 60 additional counting staff for the counting process.

The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the District Election Officer, said two rounds of training for counting officials have been started from May 13 at the MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya. He also asserted that the district administration would provide full security cover to the losing candidates.

Meanwhile, the administration has imposed restriction on bringing out any victory rally or procession in the district without prior permission. The sale and bursting of crackers have also been banned in the district.

Nalbari Superintendent of Police Dr Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa, who also attended the press meet, said adequate security arrangements have been made to thwart any untoward incident that may arise after the election results.

Morigaon: All arrangements have been made by the Morigaon district administration for smooth conduct of the vote counting process of the recently held Assembly polls. The administration has made arrangements at Morigaon College for the counting of votes for the three LACs in the Morigaon election district � Jagiroad, Morigaon and Lahorighat.

As many as 100 counting assistants and supervisors will be engaged in the counting process and a training programme for them was held at Morigaon Deputy Commissioner�s Office on Friday. Moreover, 59 micro-observers will observe the entire counting process on May 19.

The police administration has also tightened the security measures to maintain law and order during the counting process.
