JAMUGURIHAT, March 8 - The four-day Barechahariya Bhaona Mahotsov, the unique and socio-religio cultural festival which has been celebrated from 1797 AD onwards by the people of greater Jamuguri area will be held from March 1, 2018 after a gap of five years.
A public meetting organised by the Barechahriya Raij Sabha held recently at the Panchajanya Barnaamghar has fixed the dates and constituted a 121- member celebration committee, with 18 sub committees and with a tentative budget of Rs 55 lakh. The meetting has selected Padma Hazarika, MLA Chatiya as the president, Bhaben Borah as the working president, Bhaba Goswami, Ganesh Pathak and Tuwa Borah as the secretaries for smooth organisation of the Mahotsov.
A souvenier is also going to be published on the occasion. The meeting has requested people from all walks of lives to offer help co-operation and support to make the Mahotsov a grand success.
