GUWAHATI, Aug 20 - With a two-day programme, the 34th Abhiruchi Sports Day, an annual event marking the birthday of the Assam�s first Arjuna awardee Bhogeswar Barua, will be organised on September 3 and 9.
Preparations are in full swing to make the programme a success. Like previous years, at around 6.15 am on September 3, there will be a half marathon and at around 9 am, there will be a physical exercise session at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium where students of various schools are expected to participate. There will also be a dancing competition to be held on the occasion.
Along with the sports day, a music programme will also be organised at the RG Baruah Sports Complex on September 9. At around 8.30 am, traditional games and at around 11 am, inter-school quiz competition are also being planned to mark the occasion. A felicitation programme for sportspersons will also be held at around 5.30.
