IMPHAL, July 1 - Prepaid water supply system will be introduced in Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) areas once the ongoing new water pipeline laying activities are completed by March next year, according to Public Health Engineering (PHE) department Chief Engineer Haobam Sunil.

The prepaid system has been taken up under the Central scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for Imphal city to ensure that every household has access to a tap with assured supply of water and sewerage connection.

So far, 65 per cent of the laying of water pipeline works in the IMC area has been completed, said the PHE Chief Engineer. The remaining works are expected to be completed within July, he added.
