MANGALDAI, Jan 6 - Following the recent violent incidents in Hetou Chapori under Mangaldai police station, apprehending further breach of peace and tranquillity in the char-chapori areas of Darrang district, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Manoj Kumar exercising powers conferred under Section 144 CrPC has imposed ban on encroachment of government land and any construction on such land with immediate effect.

The order passed on Monday has also prohibited assembly of more than five persons in public places, public meetings, rallies, processions, use of loudspeakers, etc., without prior permission from the authority. Sticking posters and writing on the walls of any government establishments, carrying sharp weapons, etc., have also been banned.
