UDALGURI, Dec 7 - Along with other parts of the globe, pre-Christmas activities got under way in Udalguri district too.
Followers of the Christian faith celebrated pre-Christmas at Bordoloi Bhawan in Tangla on Thursday. The programme was organised by All Tangla Christian Students� College with the core theme: �The Joy of Christmas� in praise of Jesus Christ.
The programme was initiated with hymns and gospels recited in Assamese, Bodo and English, which instilled a spiritual ambience, followed by the opening prayer by Johnsuma Daimari. The programme was chaired by Rose Rani Soren, while the welcome address was delivered by Napoleon Daimari and attended as appointed speaker Kornelius Basumatary.
Speaking on the occasion, he exhorted the people to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and preach the religion of humanity. He further said that if people do not know the saviour, then they have attained a state of spiritual death. He spoke on pre-Christmas celebration and shed light on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Cultural troupes performed traditional Bihu dance on the occasion. Persons from all walks of life barring religious and community barriers participated in the pre-Christmas programme.
