Pre-Rongali Bihu Mela at new NEDFi Haat

GUWAHATI, April 9 - The Pre-Rongali Bihu Mela organised by NEDFi was inaugurated today at the newly constructed NEDFi Haat at Rupnagar here by SM Palia, former executive director of IDBI who was also associated with NEDFi at the time of its incorporation.

Former NEDFi CMD JP Saikia mentioned the various initiatives taken by NEDFi for promotion of the artisans, weavers and entrepreneurs of the region. He also mentioned the contribution made by NEDFi Haat at its earlier location at Ambari here in commercialisation of ethnic foods of Assam.

Dr Malatee Baruwa, former director of health services, Govt of Assam and a senior member of Mahila Imdad Committee (MIC) spoke about the joint initiative whereby MIC offered its infrastructure for renovation to NEDFi, so that the NEDFi Haat could be set up to facilitate a marketing platform for woman artisans and entrepreneurs of the north-eastern region.

BP Muktieh, CMD NEDFi thanked MIC for offering its infrastructure which helped NEDFi to set up the NEDFi Haat once again under its CSR initiative to promote market linkage to the artisans and entrepreneurs of the region.
