DIBRUGARH, Dec 31 � At least 300 students of the minority communities of seventy five different schools of the district have been awarded with scholarships for the year 2009-2010 under Assam Minorities Development Board.
The cheques were given away to the heads of the respective schools on December 28 at the hall of the District Academic Council. The Inspector of Schools, Phatik Doley and chairman of Dibrugarh Municipal Board, Chandrakanta Baruah handed over the cheques. Chandrakanta Baruah attended the function as the chief guest. Scholarship amounting to Rs 5, 74, 959 was allotted to the district.
The Inspector of Schools while addressing the heads and representatives of beneficiary schools, asked them to instruct the beneficiary students that the scholarships were utilsed exclusively for studies. The chairman of Dibrugarh Municipal Board also said that the money should help students to excel further in their academic career.
