GUWAHATI, April 7 � A conference of pre-1971 graduates of the Cotton College organised here today witnessed an enthusiastic participation of around 400 veterans, who shared their memories with each other and spent the day together amid various interactive sessions and cultural programmes.
The Veteran Graduates Conference was organised by Retired Teachers� Forum of the Cotton College. Surendra Kumar Bhattacharyya, a 94-year-old alumnus of the Cotton College was the oldest participant at the conference.
In the open session, conducted by Asim Kazi, all the participants shared their views and experiences on different issues. Various cultural performances by the veteran graduates were also a part of the conference.
�Around 460 alumni of the college, who graduated before 1971 had registered with us for the conference from various parts of the country. Today also, we had participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Kolkata,� said Prof Dwijendra Narayan Goswami, publicity secretary of the conference.
A directory containing the names, addresses and bio-data of those who registered for the event was released on the occasion. Smrity Tirtha, a souvenir brought out for the event was also released today.
The organisers are planning to conduct the same kind of conference for the graduates who graduated from the Cotton College between 1970 1980 in the next phase.
Batch-wise photo session of the participants was another highlight of the programme and photographs were handed over immediately to the participants.
