GAURIPUR, Dec 19 - Under the aegis of the Gauripur Anchalik Chatra Santha, the 15th death anniversary of legendary Goalpariya folk singer Padma Shri Awardee Pratima Barua Pandey is scheduled to be held on December 27 next on the premises of the Gauripur Public Library.
On the occasion, Saba Alam Sheikh, the president of the unit will hoist the flag of the students� body which will be followed by swahid tarpan to be offered by Bishal Kanti Ray, general secretary of the students� body. Several organisations will pay homage to the legendary folk singer by offering flowers on her statue installed in front of the library. The Padma Shri Pratima Barua Pandey Award to be offered by the student body will also be conferred on a renowned artiste of the area. An attractive cultural procession will also be taken out. In the evening, Saurav Bhattacharya, general secretary of the district branch will light an earthen lamp before the statue of the singer.
