GAURIPUR, Dec 28 - Under the auspices of Pramathesh Barua College Gauripur, Padma Shri Pratima Barua Pandey the legendary Goalparia folk singer was remembered on her 16th death anniversary on Thursday on the premises of the college by organising a day-long programme.
In the morning, floral tributes were paid to legendary film maker Pramathesh Barua and Padma Shri Pratima Baruah Pandey by garlanding on the statue and portraits of the famous son and daughter of Gauripur Royal Estate.
A memorial lecture on the life and contributions of the famous singer was also held. Dr Dwijendra Nath Bhakat, president of the Rajbonshi Sahitya Sabha and Dr Pratima Neogi, a researcher delivered the memorial lecture by highlighting the contributions of the folk singer in popularising the songs of the soil through her tireless efforts.
Pratima Barua Pandey College Gauripur, Gauripur Branch of the All Assam Students� Union, Gauripur Branch of the Sanskritik Mahasabha, Assam also observed the death anniversary of the Goalparia folk singer with day-long programme.
