Pranab urged to look into Hindu migrants� issue

GUWAHATI, May 14 � BJP, Assam Pradesh has demanded the intervention of the President of India regarding the Hindu refugees in Assam urging him to do the needful so that the Assam government extends legislative protection to the Hindus who crossed over to Assam from East Pakistan as has been done in case of Hindu migrants from Pakistan to Rajasthan and Gujarat.

A delegation of the party comprising Sarbananda Sonowal, Bijoya Chakravorty, Ramen Deka, Monoranjan Das, Siddhartha Bhattacharjee and Shiladitya Dev submitted a memorandum to the President yesterday insisting that there must be an immediate end to the harassment of Hindu migrants in the State.

The other demands of the party include urgent steps to stop State atrocities on innocent Indian citizens, update of NRC, fencing of Indo Bangla border, protection of one horned rhino by evicting illegal migrants who have encroached on Kaziranga National Park, among others.
