KOHORA, June 10 - Environment and Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma today visited the Kaziranga National Park to take stock of the situation following the killing of a rhino during her first visit to the Park a couple of days back.
During her brief interaction with media-persons, Brahma blamed negligence on the part of some officials in the Kaziranga Forest Department, where rhinos are killed by poachers often. Asserting that everyone of us must play a responsible role for the cause of wildlife protection, the Minister said that the government will take action against the guilty forest personnel soon.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary to Forest Sanjiva Kumar, IAS said that investigation into the killing of rhino is going on in the right direction.
Earlier, one Golap Talukdar of Geleki area near here was arrested and a single barrel gun and live cartridges of 303 rifle were recovered from his possession.
