Pragjyotish College festival

GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - Pragjyotish College organised its first ever in-house festival �Prag Mahotsava-2017� with a week-long programme recently.

A alumni meet was held on September 3, in which a new committee was formed. On September 4, the event was marked by a �Guest of the Month� programme where veteran music director Ramen Barua interacted with teachers and students of the college.

Earlier, the college foundation day, held on September 1, was marked by the Tirtha Nath Sarma Memorial Lecture, which was delivered by litterateur and editor of Dainik Barta Phanindra Kumar Deva Choudhury on the topic �Pathar Sandhan: Matabirudhor Pora Desh Gorhaloi�. On the same day, a cultural function was organised at the ITA Complex by the newly set up Performing Arts department of Pragjyotish College. The highlight of the function was the staging of Principal in-charge Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi�s play Wamala Kuorir Sadhu in collaboration with the cultural sub-committee of Asam Sahitya Sabha and Asom Kalatirtha. A souvenir brought out on the occasion was released by Justice (retd) Dr Mukunda Kam Sharma.

Earlier, a departmental freshers� social held marked the beginning of the celebration on August 30. The general freshmen�s social was held a day later with writer Dr Parag Bhattacharjya as the chief guest. Writer Riju Hazarika, an alumnus, was the appointed speaker. AASU general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi was the guest of honour.
