GUWAHATI, March 17 � The contingent of around 250 popular Assamese actors and other artistes is ready to showcase their talent in front of the southern film fraternity. This year�s Prag Cine Awards being held in Bengaluru, on March 22, the organizers have planned to put up grand show for the cine lovers of Assam and Karnataka.
Addressing the media here, Sanjeev Narain, CMD of Prag Cine Network, said that the organizers are hopeful to get a good response in their maiden venture outside the State, with Karnataka and entire southern industry being a culture loving region, and also because of the presence of a large number of Assamese population, specially youth, in Bengaluru.
Veteran artistes like Nipon Goswami, Biju Phukan, Bidya Rao, Adil Hussain, Malaya Goswami, Chetana Das and other popular actors including Barsha Rani Bishaya, Nishita Goswami, Tanvi Sharma, Asha Bordoloi, Meghranjani Medhi, Ananya Pachoni, Antariksh, Jupitora Bhuyan, Bikram Rajkhowa (Bicky), Akashdeep Deka, Neel Das etc., would enthrall the audience during the awards function. Jaya Seal and Debashmita Bannerjee, actresses from Kolkata are also going to perform.
The awards would be given in 24 categories and the lifetime achievement award would be conferred on popular actress Mridula Baruah. This award carries a certificate and cash award of Rs 50,000 along with various gift hampers.
Performances by Papon Angaraag Mahanta and East India Company, Zubin Garg, Dikshu, Zublee and Moushumi Saharia would be the added attraction of the award ceremony. �For the first time, dhulias from the North East would perform in the show.
Kapil Borah and Zerifa Wahid are going to host the show along with MTV VJ Navish and Kingkini.
�South Indian superstars and guests from Bollywood are going to witness the extravaganza. The event would be telecast in nine satellite channels on April 5. We have taken special care to arrange best quality sound, lights and sets for this award function,� Sanjev Narain added.
