Prag Cine Award on March 21, 22

GUWAHATI, Jan 27 � In a bid to promote Assamese cinema and highlight its 80-year old legacy, Prag Network would organise the North East Prag Cine Award on March 21 and 22 in Dibrugarh.

The Prag Cine Award was instituted in the year 2003 to inspire people associated with Assamese cinema. The award recognizes and honours the best talents of Assamese film industry in different segments. A jury comprising distinguished personalities associated with the field selects the winners of the award.

Broadening the scope of the awards, films from different States of the North East would be nominated for the awards this time.

This year, noted Assamese actor Bishnu Kharghoria will be honoured with lifetime achievement award for his contribution towards the Assamese film industry. Earlier, this award has been given to music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika, noted film director Abdul Mazid and celebrity actors Gyanada Kakati, Nipon Goswami, Biju Phukan and Mridula Baruah.

The organisers are also planning a workshop on digital story telling for three days before the main event to encourage the upcoming film makers. The best participants of the workshop would also be felicitated on the first day of the award function. An open discussion between the artistes and common people would also be held on the occasion.

Adil Hussain, Zubeen Garg, Papon and other eminent artistes of Assamese film industry and also from Bollywood would enthral the audience with their performance.
