ITANAGAR, May 4 - With Independent candidate Wangrang Wangjen withdrawing his nomination from the fray, Kanubari constituency in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh is all set to witness a straight contest in the bypoll slated for May 16.
PPA candidate Gabriel Denwang Wangsu is locking horns with Jyae Wangsu of Congress, an official statement said here on Tuesday.
While voting will take place on May 16, counting of votes will be held on May 19. The seat fell vacant after Wangsu resigned.
The Election Commission has deputed Samir Kumar Bhattacharya as general observer and Pauzakham Ngaigte as expenditure observer for the poll process, it said.
Altogether 10,736 electorates including 5,262 female voters will exercise their franchise in 28 polling booths. While two model polling stations are being set up, two others will be manned only by women.
In two other polling stations, at least two women polling officers will be part of the polling team, it said. � PTI
