POWERGRID donates Rs 200 crore

GUWAHATI, April 5 - POWERGRID has contributed Rs 200 crore to the Prime Minister�s Relief Fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of the amount, Rs 130 crore has already been deposited in the PM Cares Fund and the balance amount of Rs 70 crore is being deposited, stated a press release.

Furthermore, all the employees of POWERGRID have contributed their one day�s salary to the PM Cares Fund towards fighting against COVID-19. POWERGRID has also decided not to recover any amount from the salary payable to its contractual workers for their absence during the lockdown period.

Through its regional headquarters in Shillong, the public sector enterprise has also decided to provide masks, sanitisers and other medical equipment to the hospitals for setting up quarantine and isolation centres at different locations in the Northeast.

The various site establishments of POWERGRID have also taken initiatives to provide food to the needy people, daily wagers and also distributed masks, sanitisers, etc, among them. The activities being undertaken through the POWERGRID establishments in the region are being constantly monitored by B Ananta Sarma, Executive Director, North Eastern Region.
