SILCHAR, Oct 12 - At least seven electricity poles, cycle rickshaws, roadside foodstalls and a grocery store were damaged by a speeding truck at Ashram Road area here on Thursday.
According to the bystanders, a truck bearing registration No. AS01JC 7743 was coming from Ramnagar towards the National Highway bypass when the handyman of the truck lost control and rammed the vehicle on wayside posts and pillars indiscriminately.
It is also learnt that the APDCL authorities have lodged a complaint for the damage inflicted on the electric poles which subsequently caused power cut in the locality for long hours.
Meanwhile, the accused handyman has been arrested.
