GUWAHATI, May 16 � For yet another time there were major power outages in many parts of the Guwahati following the squally conditions that prevailed over the city and adjoining areas in the early hours of the day.
The poor infrastructure of ASEB was laid bare after power to many localities went off soon after the rains started. Sources in ASEB admitted that electricity supply was impeded, but added that in other areas power was discontinued to prevent accidents as power lines could have been affected.
However, many consumers complained that the outage lasted for several hours at a stretch and they found the delay in restoring power inexplicable. Supriya Mishra, a working woman complained that power to her residence at Pub Sarania was restored only in the afternoon. In several other areas like Maligaon, Santipur, Chandmari, Bamunimadam and Bhetapara, residents suffered from disruption in power supply.
