GUWAHATI, Aug 2 - The recent heavy landslides, triggered by incessant rainfall, have caused major erosion at Location 12 of the 132-KV Ranganadi-Ziro Transmission Line, which delivers power to the districts of Lower and Upper Subansiri, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, East, West and Upper Siang and some parts of Pamupare, an official release from Aalo received here via email stated.

The Chief Manager of the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., Ziro, Nani Kojin, has intimated the likely shutdown of the transmission line for at least 15 days from the date of notice to be issued shortly. During this shutdown period, all feeder districts have to make alternative power arrangements from their own ends.

Tower No. 12, located in the Hoj-Potin area of the 132-KV Ranganadi-Ziro Transmission Line had already been in a vulnerable condition due to road widening activities carried out by the PWD (Highway) for the construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway. Meanwhile, restoration works are in full swing to shift the tower to a safer location to avoid power interruption to the eight districts of the State. The Corporation has sought the cooperation of the people and the administration to bear with any inconvenience in this respect.
