GUWAHATI, July 11 � Postal employees across the country including Assam will go on indefinite strike on their 18 point charter of demands from July 13.
The strike notice was served on June 4 to the Postal Authority in New Delhi as well as the State headquarters by all the recognised unions of the department.
The postal employees have been demanding to drop the move to outsource any function of the department, cancellation of the decision to close down C class post offices, to stop abolition/merger of RMS offices, filling up all group C and D posts lying vacant besides insisting on regularization of services of casual labourers etc.
The Local Co-ordination Committee of Postal, RMS and MMS Employees Union, Guwahati said that till this date the Postal Authority has been indifferent towards the demands of the employees compelling the postal employees to join the indefinite strike.
