Post COVID-19, focus on entrepreneurship for self-reliance

JORHAT, May 17 - CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) at Pulibor here celebrated National Technology Day 2020 recently by focusing on rebooting the economy through science and technology.

CSIR-NEIST said it took the first step towards rebuilding the economy post-COVID-19 by celebrating National Technology Day in a way to create awareness on social entrepreneurship for self-reliance.

About 300 saplings were planted at the NEIST Ecological Park by CSIR-NEIST Director Dr G Narahari Sastry, NE Agriculture Technology Entrepreneurs� Hub CEO Dr K Karthikeyan, NEATEHUB Director on Board Dr Danish Tamuly and other employees.

Dr Jatin Kalita, principal scientist and head of research planning and business development division of CSIR-NEIST, spoke to aspirant women entrepreneurs.

Dr Sastry said NEIST will reach out to about 500 villages through endeavours like CSIR-AROMA Mission, Rural Women Technology Park, STINER programme and other skill development initiatives.

Dr Tamuly stressed the importance of social entrepreneurship, based on social, cultural and environmental need of the society to cope up with the post-COVID-19 situation. Dr Karthikeyan highlighted the changing scenario of business procedures and marketing along with the available facilities in NEATEHUB.

Dr Mantu Bhuyan, principal investigator of STINER-Hub at NEIST, spoke about opportunities for entrepreneurs like technical support, training, incubation. Dr Sastry later delivered the National Technology Day Lecture on �Role of Science and Technology in the times of War, Pandemics and Natural Disasters�.
