Positive cases rise to 19 in Dhemaji dist

DHEMAJI, June 1 - The total number of COVID-19 cases in Dhemaji district has risen to 19 today, with positive results four new persons of Dhemaji who are returnees from outside Assam and were kept under quarantine in the camp of Dhemaji IDBT situated at Telijan here.

As informed by Dr Ranidhar Kakati, Joint Director, Health Department, Dhemaji district, among the four cases, two came from Chennai, one from Hyderabad and the another one came from Siliguri and they were engaged in different industrial works there for years.

It may be mentioned here that yesterday one woman named Mousumi Mili, who came from Pune and was under quarantine at Dhemaji Engineering College, was confirmed as COVID-19 patient while two quarantined persons in Jonai subdivision also tested positive yesterday. And including the 12 other persons who had tested COVID-19 positive during the last week from May 25, the total number of COVID-19 patients in the district has increased to 19.

Joint Director of Dhemaji Health Department, Dr Kakati today further informed that there are still about 950 persons in 15 quarantine centres at different places of Dhemaji district and the medical staff of Dhemaji are sincerely rendering their best services to the quarantined persons with utmost care.

He has also asked the people not to panic over the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases in Dhemaji because of the fact that the persons who have been confirmed positive are not people residing in the district, but they are stranded persons working outside Assam.
