Positive cases mount to 87 in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, June 13 - Arunachal Pradesh recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Friday with 20 persons testing positive. This has taken the State�s COVID-19 tally to 87.

Thirteen of the 20 new cases were reported from the worst-affected Changlang district, while six cases were reported from East Siang and one from Namsai district.

With the detection of 20 fresh cases, the number of active cases in the State now stands at 83 as four patients have recovered and released from hospital.

Changlang district has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 55, followed by East Siang (nine) and Itanagar Capital Complex (seven), said a health bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services last night.

As per the bulletin, of the six new cases reported in East Siang, two cases were detected at the COVID Care Centre (CCC) and the rest at the quarantine centres. All of them are returnees from Noida and Assam. The new cases in Changlang are returnees from Delhi, Noida and Haryana, while the one in Namsai is a Chennai returnee.

�All the cases have been detected at quarantine facilities and all are asymptomatic. All of them were shifted to the CCC,� it said.
