GUWAHATI, Aug 13 - Public Works Department Minister Ajanta Neog today informed the State Assembly that the job of maintaining the National Highway 37 rests with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDC), which is also responsible for the construction of four-laning of the highways in the State. �
She was replying to a point of order raised by AGP legislator PK Mahanta on the poor condition of the NH-37, which was also supported by another AGP legislator Keshav Mahanta.
Mahanta said that the government must bring the ordeal faced by the common man to the notice of the appropriate authorities and if required action should also be taken against the officials for failing to maintain such an important road.
