GUWAHATI, July 25 - Joy Saha and Sukumar Barman won the 9 Balls and 8 Balls events respectively in the All Assam 8 Ball and 9 Ball Pool Championship which held at the Tarun Ram Phookan indoor Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here from July 22 to 24.
The tournament was organised by the Star Sporting Club where 44 players took part.
In the 9 Ball final Joy Saha defeated Bhargav Lahkar 5-1 while in the 8 Ball event Sukumar blanked Rajesh Kumar 5-0.
In the semifinals, Joy beat Rohit Yadav 5-2 in the 9 Ball event while Bhargav beat Sukumar Barman 5-1. In the 8 Ball category Sukumar defeated Vinit Soni 5-1 and Rajesh downed Atiqur Rahman 5-2. The league-cum-knock out tournament was inaugurated by former DGP GM Srivastava while in the closing function IGP Hiren Nath was present as chief guest. Former international footballer Abdul Latif, noted film director Munna Ahmed, GSA president Munin Nobis were also present on the occasion.
