Poll tickets to BJP candidates based on survey results: Dass

By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Dec 18 - State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has made it clear that the party will give tickets to those aspiring to contest the 2021 Assembly election representing the party, based on the results of the four-tier survey done by the national and State-level committees of the BJP.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Dass said, Neither the Chief Minister nor the NEDA convener can affirm tickets to the candidates. We are conducting a four-tier survey and responses based on the survey shall determine who deserves to contest in the elections.

Dass is on a weeklong visit to southern Assam to assess the preparations for the ensuing election and also to motivate the party leaders and cadres.

Dass further informed that the saffron party has adopted Sonai constituency of Cachar district as a model and decided to field as many as seven candidates from the minority community across the State.

Asked whether former Minister Gautam Roy will be the face from Katigorah constituency, Dass was quick to say that such talks do not matter much and candidates will be chosen based only on the results of the survey.

Responding to the questions on alleged infighting within the BJP in Cachar district, the State BJP chief said that in every big family (the party) there is bound to be some agreements and counter-agreements. We are hopeful of securing not less than 50,000 votes from Silchar. The members and cadres must focus on micro-management, keeping in view the mission of the party and strengthen the connection with each beneficiary across constituencies, he maintained.
