Poll preparations for Williamnagar reviewed

WILLIAMNAGAR, April 13 - Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor reviewed the election preparedness for Williamnagar (ST) Assembly constituency at Williamnagar Circuit House here on April 12.

The CEO stressed on the two key challenges of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) management and keeping vigil on Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations during the election. Talking about the need for smooth conduct of the election, the CEO informed that there have been misgivings in terms of EVM management due to human error and asked the District Election Officer to ensure that proper training is imparted to the concerned officials.

The CEO also asked the district Superintendent of Police to ensure that security is provided to all the contesting candidates.

District Election Officer informed that Williamnagar constituency has 32,345 voters, 58 polling stations, 10 web casting polling stations, one model polling station and two women polling stations. He also informed that three Flying Squad teams, five Video Surveillance teams and two Static Surveillance teams have been formed for keeping vigil on MCC violations in the constituency.
