Poll observer visits Majuli

JORHAT, March 27 - The General Election Observer, appointed by the ECI for the Number 14 Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency, Brundaban Behera, today visited Majuli to have a first-hand knowledge of the prevailing situation in the Brahmaputra island and took stock of the election preparedness in the district.

The Majuli Assembly seat is a part of the Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency, which goes to polls on April 11.

A Majuli district administration official stated that the Majuli Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Debaprasad Misra, accompanied by the Superintendent of Police Majuli, Hitesh Chandra Ray and other officials of the administration received and extended a warm welcome to the General Election Observer at the Circuit House at Garamur.

Behera had an interaction with the top officials of Majuli district administration and police regarding preparations and arrangements undertaken to conduct the polls peacefully in a free and fair manner, the official said.

The official further stated that Misra briefed the General Observer about the steps taken by the administration for the smooth conduct of the elections.

Meanwhile, the General Observer for number 12 Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency Dr Ranjit Kumar Sinha today reviewed the poll arrangements with in-charge officials of various cells of the election department of Jorhat district at the Jorhat Circuit House.
