GUWAHATI, Dec 31 � Assam Police Blues team has completed the quarterfinal line up in the 62nd Bordoloi Trophy Football Tournament.

In the last pre-quarterfinal match of the championship played at the Nehru Stadium here today, Assam Police Blues pipped Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club by a solitary goal.

The all important goal was netted by Mofidul Islam in the 32nd minute. It was a beautiful goal as Mofidul brilliantly chipped the ball over the advancing FCI goalkeeper Bitul Khanikar after receiving the ball from Golap Rabha.

The policemen were distinctly dominating side and they could have scored two more goals in the second session had Lohit Taye and Karuna Gayary not missed two scoring opportunities.

For FCI, veteran David Gayari tried heart out for setting the ball for his strikers who could not avail the openings. Rakesh Das was not in target in a couple of occasions from striking range.

There will be no match tomorrow. On Thursday, Oil India Limited will take on Aizawal XI in the first quarterfinal.
